Leaving on a Jet Plane

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Christopher McCandless, Into The Wild

I’m going somewhere very exciting. I don’t want to say where, but let’s just say – it’s warm where I am headed. There’s no snow. I won’t need to wear a toque, or a jacket, or even a sweatshirt if I don’t want to. I can wear sandals.

My family and friends think that I am crazy for finding this a worthwhile destination for me to travel to. It’s not exactly at the top of bucket-lists, or popular across social media platforms. Me though? I prefer to stay off the beaten path. At least that is what I am telling myself.

As of right now, my ticket is open-ended. I can return when I want to. If I want to. (Well I’ll likely have to return eventually because I don’t have a VISA)

Thank you to Chris for going to the pharmacy in good ole USA and getting me some Adapalene so that I could get it in time before I left. You’re a real gem, sir.

My suitcase is packed (AIR TAG included!) and all that’s left to do is pack up my work computer when I am done for the day. I’m going on an adventure (definitely won’t be getting married) and I can’t wait for a change of pace for a while. If there’s good food and nice people, it’ll be all the better. Here’s to hoping.

    1. Yes! It just doesn’t seem like a smart idea to post real time where I am on the internet. Not that I think anyone on this blog would be a creep and follow me – I just think it’s smarter to say what my first destination is when I’m onto my second destination!

    1. We got in touch with her. My last post was just an update saying we found her and she is safe – she married some random Indonesian man and has decided to quit. Not that I would keep her on my team after going AWOL like that and literally having me so concerned I was ready to call the embassy and Indonesian police.

  8. Oof. Your departure date came up so fast! At least, that’s how it seemed to me. I bet it was another story in your shoes!
Can’t wait to find out where you hang your hat for the foreseeable future, and thanks for the shout out!
    Stay safe, have fun.
